I am Meng Li, founder of Huhu, a line of hyper-functional and expertly designed gear made to help parents stay organized and keep it together. I started this newsletter for 3 reasons:
🤗 I want to connect. For the past 10 years I’ve worked in Corporate America at companies where I was surrounded by people and I felt like I was constantly listening or talking. My days were filled with endless meetings, Slack messages, phone calls, text messages. It. Was. Exhausting. And then I quit my job to start a company on my own and it became so…quiet. I find that I do my best work when working alongside and bouncing ideas off of other people. I hope to use this as a place to connect with people who are passionate about the consumer goods space and equally frustrated by the lack of quality options in the parenting gear space.
✍🏼 I want to write. One of the toughest things I’ve found about getting a business off the ground is content creation. I don’t have the big bucks to pay agencies or professional copywriters and so have to write a lot of the initial content myself. But I’ve been doing business writing for so long that I think I’ve forgotten how to actually write. I can knock out a clear and concise executive summary or powerpoint deck no problem, but write an About Us page? Or a blog post? HALP. But, the more I write, the more I’m starting to get the joy of writing back (I mean, I did co-author a sweeping murder mystery in the 6th grade called The Secret of the J) and want to use this newsletter as a way to continue to improve my writing skills and hone my style and voice.
This might be the worst “Author’s Note” ever written.
💡 I want your feedback. Over the past year I’ve been working on my product prototype in a vacuum. I designed the bag with me as the target consumer in mind, so all of the materials, finishes, design choices, have been based solely on my opinions. But at a certain point, I can’t use my preferences as a proxy for all potential customers. I want to hear from you - about anything and everything - small product details, brand content, visual imagery, is the new track from Red (Taylor’s Version) really about Karlie Kloss.

Who am I?
I am a Business Woman Person with 10+ years of experience scaling successful consumer businesses and transforming challenger brands into household names. I used to run Marketing at Native and have also worked at Method and Johnson & Johnson. My areas of expertise are grounded in: consumer goods, e-commerce, brand building, growth marketing, product innovation. I live in the Bay Area and am a Parent to: Taco (70 human years), Aliya (6), Zaki (2). I love prestige television and prestige television recap podcasts. Yes, it’s a whole genre.
